Himeville Nature Reserve is situated in the southern Drakensberg, 130 km from Pietermaritzburg. The reserve stretches along the eastern boundary of Himeville Village and was proclaimed to its present size of 104 ha in 1973. Himeville Nature Reserve offers trout fishing in two dams situated in the reserve.

Kamberg nestles in the foothills of the Ukhahlamba Drakensberg Park , its central position ideal for visits to many other well known Berg areas from Lotheni to Giants Castle. Kamberg is a delightful spot in it's own right with three attractive picnic sites near the river and trout dams which provide a relaxing alternative to the scenic attractions of the many well maintained walks in the area.

SILVERSTREAMS caravan sites are well grassed,each site has a 15 amp electrical point as well as a water point. The ablution block has ample hot water and bath/shower facilities. There are also laundry and drying fascilities on-site as well as a deepfreeze facility.

The only formally protected area in East Griqualand , Mount Currie consists of the mountain from which it gets its name , forest patches and grassy slopes dotted with Protea roupelliae and Protea caffra. Crystal Dam which provides boating and angling opportunities is fed by the pure water of Crystal Spring , the main source of Kokstad’s water supply. The reserve boasts a bird list of over 220 recorded species with striped flufftails common in the wetter areas and the bearded vulture frequently seen when climbing Mt. Currie.

Vergelegen is managed as part of Cobham and also provides opportunities for overnight camping and good river trout fishing. It is the closest hiking route to the highest peak in the Drakensberg Thaba Ntlenyana (the beautiful little mountain) which is in Lesotho, at 3482m the highest peak south of Kilamanjaro.
