The present resort was started by Jack and Heather van Rensburg in 1983. At present there are 16 self-catering thatched chalets and 56 electrified caravan/ tent sites. However, for the more active, Hlalanathi boasts one of the finest golf courses. Even if you aren't a golfer, a walk around the manicured course to enjoy the peace of the rolling terrain, the water features and bird life is a treat not to be missed.

ATKV Drakensville offers a wide range of accommodation. From self-catering units for two to spacious family houses for up to eight people, as well as luxury bed and breakfast rooms. All units are serviced daily and are comfortably furnished, fully equipped and have DSTV.

The Bergville Caravan Park is situated on the foothills of the Drakensberg and on the banks of the Tugela River.

Some of the most picturesque hiking trails at Cathkin Park, Cathedral Peak, Champagne Castle, Oliviershoek, Royal National Park Mount Aux Sources and various historical monuments are within a radius of 55 kilometres.

Mahai is a beautifully situated campsite featuring 120 large campsites nestled along the Mahai River with magnificent mountains forming the backdrop. Half the sites have electric plug points and barbecue stands, and the non-electrified section share barbecue facilities.
