There are coral reefs offshore, the littoral zone with rock pools, the beach, pioneer plants on the seaward side of the dunes, the climax dune forest as well as the grasslands on the western slopes of the dunes.

Animals found in this area include rhino, wildebeest, hyaena, warthog, zebra, monkeys, leopard, cheetah, hippo, crocodile and a wide variety of others.
